Why Now

WHY NOW

Human rights in Iran are nonexistent. More than 700 recorded executions took place in Iran in the past year, two-thirds of them since the election of the so-called moderate president, Hassan Rouhani. There are no indications of change regarding freedom of press, freedom of expression, freedom of association, freedom of information, women’s rights, and access to the Internet.

Following implementation of the international community’s interim agreement with Iran, the clock has begun ticking to reach a comprehensive agreement on Tehran's nuclear weapons program in 2014. According to the Geneva agreement, the comprehensive solution has to be reached this year. The discussions on the world communities’ future trend with Iran are on an international center stage.

Tehran's meddling in Syria, Iraq, and other countries also are among topics of discussion by international community.
